Split Ring Mechanical Seal

Special mechanical seals with huge segmented rings; either two-split rings or a large number of segments

Sintered silicon carbide is the most common material for mechanical seals, due to its excellent chemical resistance and thermal conductivity. Segments form a huge ring with the which fit separately into the mechanical seal. The material SiSiC can be machined by wire-erosion.
