MOLYBDENUM ALLOYS

H.C. Starck produces a wide range of molybdenum and molybdenum alloy mill products using two primary consolidation methods; vacuum arc-casting (VAC) and powder metallurgy (PM). The availability of products from both of these established processes gives users many options in selecting a material to satisfy their specific application requirements. Mill products available from either process include forging billets, bar, rod, plate, sheet, and foil.

A major attribute of our vacuum arc-casting process is the superior result, which can be obtained in alloying. In the vacuum arc furnace, complete melting and blending of the molybdenum and alloys takes place to assure a homogeneous material.

TZM Moly Alloy

TZM is an established molybdenum alloy (0.5% Ti, 0.08% Zr, balance Mo) which is consolidated by either the P/M or vacuum arc-casting processes. It gives excellent service in applications that require high strength, creep resistance at elevated temperatures. TZM molybdenum alloy also permits higher service temperatures without softening or weakening.

MHC Alloy

MHC is an established molybdenum alloy containing Hafnium carbide, which is consolidated by the P/M process. The high recrystallization temperature, high strength, low thermal expansion, and high thermal conductivity of this alloy makes it ideally suited for die applications, particularly for brass extrusion.

Mo30W Alloy

Offering the only commercially available arc-cast molybdenum/tungsten alloy, H.C. Starck`s Mo30W has demonstrated excellent service life in handling high-purity molten zinc (99.99% Zn).

MP35N

A nickel, chromium, molybdenum and cobalt-based alloy with outstanding strength and corrosion resistance, MP35N is ideal for applications in the aerospace, marine, chemical, and medical fields.

Material is available from 0.002" (0,05mm) - 1.5" (38.1mm) thickness to a maximum of 24" (610mm) width.

ODS Mo-La alloy

ODS Molybdenum Lanthanum alloy is a molybdenum alloy containing Lanthanum Oxide. This oxide-dispersion strengthened molybdenum is a mixture of molybdenum with a very fine array/dispersion of lanthanum oxide particles. This composition results in extraordinary resistance to recrystallization, ductility, and high-temperature deformation. It is an ideal material for applications requiring dimensional stability and strength at temperatures above the capabilities of either pure molybdenum metal or molybdenum TZM alloy.
