Masan High-Tech Materials integrates global R&D activities under H.C. Starck Tungsten Powders‘ leadership

Goslar, GERMANY, January 5th, 2023 – H.C. Starck Tungsten Powders is bringing together the research and development activities within the Masan High-Tech Materials Group in an integrated structure from January 2023. This will create an international innovation hub with a total of almost 40 highly specialised employees at the headquarters in Goslar and at Masan Tungsten LLC in Thai Nguyen, Vietnam.

The combined team focuses on application research in pyro- and hydrometallurgy, the optimisation of existing processes and products, and the development of new, disruptive solutions and technologies. Responsible for the integration and leadership of the expanded organisation is Julia Meese-Marktscheffel, who has led the Technology & Innovation Global (TIG) division at H.C. Starck Tungsten Powders since its spin-off from the H.C. Starck Group in 2016.

The combined resources and capabilities are intended to make the company’s innovation processes even more powerful, flexible and effective. To achieve this, further investments in laboratory equipment and qualification measures are planned, especially at the Masan Tungsten LLC, APT Factory in Thai Nguyen.

Julia Meese-Marktscheffel says: “The integrated organisation will secure our technological leadership in tungsten along the entire value chain and, in addition, open up new, profitable business areas beyond tungsten. The interaction of different cultures will help us to develop and realise new ideas for trends such as electromobility or a circular economy even more effectively in the future.”
