Conflict-free raw materials –
We fulfill the guidelines of the OECD and EU

Our Responsible Supply Chain Management (RSCM) ensures that we procure primary raw materials exclusively from conflict-free sources. The material’s proof of origin and accompanying documentation is checked with regard to transparency. And we check the plausibility of the resulting assessments, drawing on our extensive data collection and years of experience.

Act responsibly

via our Responsible Supply Chain Management

Our Responsible Supply Chain Management takes account not only of internationally recognised standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001, and SA 8000, but also traceability, transparency, and compliance with far-reaching ethical, social, and environmental principles when procuring raw materials.

Certified supply with raw materials from conflict-free sources

We purchase and process only raw materials that conform with the guidelines of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD; Due Diligence Guidance for Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas) and the corresponding EU regulation (Regulation (EU) 2017/821) for laying down supply chain due diligence obligations. Our compliance with this commitment is confirmed by the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI), which we are a member of, in the course of periodic verifications of our tungsten processing locations as part of the Responsible Minerals Assurance Process (RMAP). H.C. Starck Tungsten Powders is one of few companies whose compliance with the regulations has been constantly confirmed since the program began. We are a member of the ITRI Tin Supply Chain Initiative (iTSCi), which has developed a recognised system for transparent procurement of raw materials from conflict regions and which regularly checks implementation of the system by its member companies. In addition, H.C. Starck Tungsten Powders is a founding member of the Tungsten Industry-Conflict Minerals Council (TI-CMC) and the Public-Private Alliance for Responsible Minerals Trade (PPA), which support state and private initiatives for the development and building of supply chains for conflict-free raw materials. In accordance with the OECD due diligence directive and the EU regulation on conflict minerals, H.C. Starck Tungsten Powders investigates complaints involving the procurement of raw materials. These can be sent directly to the email address listed below. Alternatively, complaints can also be sent via the Web portal of the RMI or iTSCi.

Recycling for an independent supply of raw materials

Our goal is to make our raw material supply as independent as possible of primary producers, price volatility, and speculation on the commodity market. That’s why we recycle increasing quantities of production waste, slag, and scrap into high-quality, high-performance powders made of tungsten and its compounds.
